PORTAGEVILLE -- Barbara C. Cook, 88, died March 1, 2012, at Portageville.
Born June 30, 1923, in Hitchin, England, to the late Earnest and Rose West Gray, she served with the British Royal Air Force during the war with Germany and worked in the mess hall serving British and American troops. She came to the United States in February 1946 and moved to Portageville.
On Aug. 23, 1944, in the Uxbridge district in Middlesex, England, she married Sam F. Cook, who was serving at that time in the U.S. Army. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1977.
She was also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and her adoptive parents, Frances Annie and Thomas Culter.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joe Elrod of Portageville.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with the Rev. Griff Walker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
