FENTON -- Everett Raymond "Ray" Putnam, 69, formerly of Charleston, died Feb. 24, 2012, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born Sept. 2, 1942, to the late E.R. Putnam Jr. and Dorothy Lee Waller Putnam, he graduated from Charleston High School and attended Murray State University. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Rocktenn Manufacturing in St. Louis. He worked many years as a store manager and district manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He moved to Nashville, Tenn., where he became a hair stylist and managed a salon in the Castner Knott Department Store.
Survivors include: one son, E.R. "Rhett" Putnam IV of Nashville; two daughters, Stephanie Renee Putnam Wolfgang of Saginaw, Mich., and Laura Lynn Putnam of Kansas City; two brothers, Arthur Lee Putnam of Bloomington, Ill., and Thomas Evans Putnam of Brentwood, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
One son, Eric Putnam, preceded him in death.
A private graveside service was conducted Thursday at the IOOF Cemetery in Charleston. The Rev. Dan Faust, pastor or Charleston United Methodist Church, officiated.
The McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston was in charge of arrangements.
