CHARLESTON -- MoDOT has closed a bridge FEMA wouldn't pay on.

During their regular meeting Thursday, Mississippi County Commissioners decided to put a bridge replacement project on hold in favor of replacing a bridge with a more pressing need.

Commissioners are working with Dennis Cox, an engineer for Smith and Company of Poplar Bluff, on a project which would replace a bridge on County Road 326 with a new bridge using the county's Off-System Bridge Replacement Program funding.
