MATTHEWS -- Rome R. Scroggins, 67, died March 6, 2012, at his home in rural Matthews.
Born Sept. 10, 1944, in Matthews, son of the late Roma and Lavada Kirtley Scroggins, he was a member of Church of Christ in Arkansas and had farmed for Matthews Cotton Company before retiring.
On Aug. 28, 1997, he married Peggy Mitchell who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Howard Mitchell of Russellville, Ark.; two daughters, Patricia Thurston of Huntsville, Ark., and Sharon Smith of Springdale, Ark.; three sisters, Nina Gray of Steele, Faye McDaniel of Canalou and Joann Caston of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, two sisters, Emma Lee Harwood and Marie Scroggins, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 1 p.m Thursday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
