PUXICO -- Elsie Burge, 96, died March 5, 2012, at her home.
Born Sept. 23, 1915, in White Oak, to the late Lee and Jenny Oler Harris, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Puxico and the Christian Women's Fellowship. A former member of the Business & Professional Women organization, she and her husband were co-owners of Burge Electric and Burge Drilling Company.
In Piggott, Ark., she married Arlie "Hoss" Burge who preceded her in death on March 23, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Kinnaman, two sons, Kenneth Brantley Burge and Arlie Ray Burge, one brother, Ansel Harris, three sisters, Opal Harris, Louise Snider and Tincy Cookson, and one granddaughter,.
Surviving are: two daughters, Barbara Boone of Leesburg, Fla., and Judy Arnold of Poplar Bluff; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Nelda Burge of Puxico and Floyd and Valjeane Burge of Poplar Bluff; one son-in-law, Jack Kinnaman of the state of Missouri; and 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Revs. Wiley McGhee and Ray Placher of Puxico officiating.
Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico.
