DEXTER -- Dale Whittenberg, 76, died March 9, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Como, son of the late Rolla and Hynthia Jackson Whittenberg, he was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. The former owner of Dale's Shell Service Station in Dexter, he had also worked for various service stations and oil companies in the Dexter area.

On Dec. 18, 1959, at Broseley, he married Jean Jordan who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Melana and Steve Hardin of Dexter; one sister, Virginia Craft of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren, Lauren Hardin and Matthew Hardin.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Davis.

Services were conducted Monday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating.

Burial followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
