SIKESTON -- Jewell Crawford, 87, died March 8, 2012, at the Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 20, 1924, in Pollard, Ark., to the late Chappie and Ada Grissom Crawford, he was a carpenter for over 50 years and had been employed by Matthews Farms Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston.

In 1946, at Piggott, Ark., he married Dolores Husher, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Suzanne Rennier of Sikeston and Sally Scales of Warner Robins, Ga.; one brother, Bobby Crawford of Flat Rock, Mich.; and two sisters, Thelma Johnson of Benton, Ky., and Velma Ruth Litchford of Sikeston.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Graveside services were conducted Monday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating. Full military honors were provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard Unit.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
