PERKINS -- Wesley Leroy Jones Sr., 71, of Perkins, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 6, 1940, in Bernie, he was the son of the late Leonard and Gwendolyn Anderson Jones. He was a sewing machine mechanic for many years for International Hat Company and later the Paramont Hat Company in Oran and Marble Hill. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 29, 1984, in Oran, he married Nancy Miles who survives.
Besides his wife, he is also survived: by a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Fara Jones Jr. of Oran; stepchildren and their spouses, Bobby and Cindy Harris of Millen, Ga., Rick and Carol Harris of Winder, Ga., Sherrie and Rick Sutton of Augusta, Ga., Dwana and Buddy McClaine, Deanna Gonzalez and Darin and Tora Hudgens all of Benton and Don and Penny Hudgens Jr. of Marble Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Karen Jones of Alton; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kay and John Mohler of Bloomfield, N.M.; and three grandchildren, 16 stepgrandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Leonard "Sonny" Jones and Dwight "Ikie" Jones, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at the Perkins Baptist Church in Perkins. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Bryan Gill officiating.
Inurnment with military honors will follow the service at 12 noon in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
