BENTON -- Tornados aren't the only type of severe weather to prepare for.
Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week 2012 is being observed now through Friday, according to Tom Beardslee, emergency management director for Scott County.
The event is scheduled yearly by The National Weather Service and the State Emergency Management Agency to save lives, according to a news release from Beardslee.
This year's observance kicked off Monday with Preparedness Day which Beardslee explained covers general information.
