ESSEX -- Julia Ruth Morse, 96, died March 14, 2012, at her home near Essex.
Born Feb. 20, 1916, in Horine, to the late John and Emma Schwebel Day, she had lived St. Louis and Jefferson County before moving to Southeast Missouri 71 years ago. She was a member of the Beech Grove General Baptist Church and had worked at Maupin's Variety Store for many years.
On March 8, 1941, in Imperial, she married Curtis A. Wilson who preceded her in death. On Sept. 5, 1948, in Fish, she married Leonard Earl Morse and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Day, three brothers in infancy, and three sisters, Maybelle Huskey, Viola Ebling and Lucy Weilandich.
Surviving are: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Curtis A. and Dianne Wilson Jr. of Columbia, S.C., Herman and Sharon Morse of Dexter and David Morse of Essex; and five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Don Lafferty of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
