SIKESTON -- Earnest Duane Chronister, 88, died March 15, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 13, 1923, in Oregon County, son of the late George C. and Floy Sifford Chronister, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Germantown, Tenn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a glider pilot and mechanic, stationed in North France and Central Europe during World War II, and had been a district manager for Case IH for 35 years before retiring.

On Sept. 4, 1982, he married Jean Hout, and she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Chronister of Alton and Robert and Lori Hout of St. Louis; two brothers, Granville Chronister and LeRoy Chronister both of Alton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, one daughter, Diane Achord; one brother, Jewell Chronister; and one sister, Verna Seigle, preceded him in death.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date with Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
