SIKESTON -- Spring officially arrives today, which means it's time for spring cleaning homes and making them poison-safe for children, pets and families, according to the Missouri Poison Center.

This week marks the 50th anniversary of Poison Prevention Week, the nationally recognized week to educate and inform consumers of the dangers of unintentional poisonings.

"It's really one of the most successful public health campaigns in the country," said Peggy Kinamore, public education coordinator for Missouri Poison Control Center in St. Louis.
