NEW MADRID -- Billy Young passed away March 23, 2012, at his home in New Madrid at the age of 69.
He was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Bernie, to Dilmos Young who survives of New Madrid and the late Myrtle "Ella" Coleman Young. He was employed at Associated Electric Co-op where he worked in many positions and was the operations supervisor when he retired in 2005 after 34 years. He was a 32nd degree mason and past worshipful master of the New Madrid Lodge 429 and a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church.
On Sept. 11, 1959, in Sikeston, he married Willie Mae Byrd who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Rick Faulkner of LaForge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Becky Young of Huntsville and Clay and Rachelle Young of New Madrid; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Townsend of New Madrid, Sandy and Frank Berra of St. Louis and Shirley and Dickie Carden of East Prairie; one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Angel Young of Berthoud, Colo.; six grandchildren, Matthew Steven Young, Hillary LeAnn Young, Holly Elizabeth Young, Heather Lynn Young, Adam Clay Young and Caleb Lee Young; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanie Young, and one brother, Welton Lee Young.
Services were conducted today at the New Madrid Baptist Church on Scott Street in New Madrid. Cary Weaver, pastor, officiated.
Pallbearers were: Adam Young, Matthew Young, Brantley Berra, Anthony Carden, Nick Young and Richard Howell.
Honorary pallbearers were: Caleb Young, Barry Mitchem, Tim Sullenger, Rick Faulkner, Bobby Adams, Sterlin McVay, Larry Adams, Jim Adams and Marshall Young.
The Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid was in charge of arrangements.
