WAPPAPELLO -- Martha L. Ward, 93, died March 28, 2012, at the Puxico Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 20, 1918, in Wappapello, to the late Albert S. and Mollie C. Carnes Lincoln, she lived all her life in the Wappapello area where she was a member of the New Life Baptist Church.
On April 21, 1936, in Wappapello, she married Leffie E. Ward, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Benhoff; two brothers, Elmer C. Lincoln and B. Frank Lincoln; one grandson; and one great-great-grandson.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Shelby Ward of Puxico; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Lafferty of Alton, Ill., and E. Joyce and Jim Johnson of Poplar Bluff; and four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday with Chaplain Brad Lafferty of St. Charles and the Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will be in the Puxico Cemetery.
