Chaffee baseball wins, Scott Central falls 9-1

BERNIE -- Chaffee's Alex Crowe earned the win on the mound and provided the Red Devils with a grand slam Wednesday as Chaffee picked up with third win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Bernie.

Crowe poked his grand slam in the top of the fourth with the Red Devils down 2-0. Crowe, who pitched five innings, finished 2 for 4 at the plate.

"It was nice to see Crowe get going and he really got us going in the fourth with his grand slam," Chaffee head coach Brian Horrell said. "We had a lot of hits, but Bernie played pretty good defense."

Crowe allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits. He also struck out three.

Propelled by Crowe's grand slam, Chaffee scored six runs in the fourth and added another in the top of the seventh for insurance.

Alex Davie, Cody Payne and Devin Yahn finished the day with two hits apiece.

The Red Devils (3-1) will host their own Chaffee Round Robin Tournament beginning on Friday.

SIKESTON -- Gregg Davis struck out 11 over five dominant innings to lead the visiting Wildcats to a 9-1 over Scott Central.

Davis walked three and allowed two hits. The only run he gave up was unearned.

Zach Elfrink led the Wildcats (2-2) with three hits and five RBIs.

Nathan Holland had both of the Braves' hits.
