POPLAR BLUFF -- William Homer "Bill" Pentecost, 72, a resident of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born Dec. 2, 1939, in St. Louis, to the late Clint and Aldine Pentecost, Bill was an ordained minister of the Church of God in Anderson, Ind., and pastored churches in Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. The Rev. Pentecost attended the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff since retiring in September.
On Jan. 11, 1969, Bill married Carolyn Triplett.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Triplett Pentecost of Poplar Bluff; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Debbie Pentecost of St. Louis and Clint and Mary Pentecost of Madison, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Mike Worrell of Dixon, Ill., and Jeannette and Keith Dunaway of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Robert Lauer of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Heather Mason (Nate) and Nic Pentecost of Flint, Mich., Lynnsey, Kali and Alee Worrell of Dixon, William, Jack and Trey Pentecost of Madison and Grace and Josiah Dunaway of Nashville.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, David, and one grandson, Elijah.
Friends and relatives may call from 4-7 p.m., with a musical celebration of life at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Morley Church of God in Morley where visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2 followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Triplett of Poplar Bluff will officiate.
Interment will follow at Old Morley Cemetery in Morley.
The Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, Ky. is in charge of arrangements.
