SIKESTON -- Mary Emma Parks Ferrell, 96, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Miner Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Hickman, Ky., to Allie and Margaret (Ridley) Parks Sr., she was a natural caregiver and nurse who devoted much of her life to caring for her family, friends and patients. She was an active and longtime member of the Macon Road Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James Clifford Ferrell; her brothers, Harry, Robert, Allie Jr. and James Parks; and sisters, Doris Hayden and Josephine Matthews.
She is survived by her son, Flaire Ferrell Sr. (Georgia) of Sikeston; and her daughter, Sandra Ferrell Vaughan (Jerry) of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Floyd Ferrell Jr. (Karen) of Sikeston, Ginger Ferrell Cox (Allen) of Coppell, Texas, and Julie Ferrell O'Brien (Dan) of Sikeston, Joe Vaughan of Tucson, Ariz, and Ferrell Vaughan Henry (Randy) of Belcamp, Md.; and seven great grandchildren, Flaire Ferrell III, Emma Ferrell, Lovell Cox, Gavin O'Brien, Anniegeorgia O'Brien, Alana Henry and Charli Henry. Her loving spirit will live always in our hearts.
Private family graveside services were conducted Wednesday, April 4 in Hickman.
Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie was in charge of arrangements.
