CARUTHERSVILLE -- A Pemiscot County man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg following an altercation Monday at his home near Holland.
According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, deputies received a call Monday afternoon to a residence on County Highway 479, just outside Holland city limits, where a fight was in progress.
When deputies arrived, they found a man on the front porch with a pistol in his hand and another man standing beside a sport utility vehicle parked in the driveway. A woman was in the area, too, the sheriff said.
Deputies negotiated with the man on the porch to put the weapon down on the ground, and he was later restrained. The two people by the SUV were also forced to the ground and later restrained.
During the initial investigation is was learned another man had also been at the residents with the two people by the SUV, but he fled the scene after shots were fired between him and the man on porch.
