Basketball, volleyball stars on display Saturday

DEXTER -- Sikeston senior Kil'Ron Coleman picked up Most Valuable Player honors as his team, A+ Medical Equipment, defeated Allen Christian during the Class 3, 4 and 5 game at the BA All-Star game at the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter.

Coleman scored 15 points.

Luke Bixler of Risco picked up MVP honors in the Class 1, 2 game, leading ADI to a 75-70 win.

Scott County Central senior Dominique Porter won the overall 3-point shooting contest defeating both the girls champion as well as the Class 3, 4 and 5 champion.

The Girls 3-point shooting contest was won by Lesterville's Taylor Cook. The Boys Class 3, 4 and 5 champion was Coleman.

Jackson's John Meyer won the slam dunk competition defeating Poplar Bluff's Kendric McCain in the finals.

VOLLEYBALL

In the B.A. Sports All-Star volleyball game, B.A. Promotions defeated Southern Bank in three sets, 18-25, 25-19, 27-25.

Julia Weber of Jackson was named the MVP of the game while Erin Bollmann of Meadow Heights won the hardest spike competition with a hit of 42 miles per hour. Kaley Morse of Poplar Bluff defeated Dexter's McKenzie Mitchell in an extra round of the passing competition.

Season awards were also given after the game with Scott City's Katie Hogan named Player of the Year. Perryville's David Mirly was named Coach of the Year while Bloomfield's Lindsay Hutchison was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Scott City's Mikah Simpson was voted the Offensive Player of the Year while teammate Sydney Short was named the Top Setter.
