EAST PRAIRIE -- Carrie Ann Roberds Hale, 92, died at 7:45 p.m. April 15, 2012, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 18, 1920, in the Tipp community of Woodruff County, Ark., to the late Tom and Johnnie Sasser Roberds, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County farming with her husband. She worked as a beautician and a certified nursing assistant and volunteered at the East Prairie Nutrition Center. She was a member of the Nelson United Methodist Church in East Prairie.
In 1936, at McCrory, Ark., she married Bertie Hale who preceded her in death in 2005.
She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Lem Roberts, Jimmy Roberds, Joe Roberds, Frank Roberds, Fred Roberts and a brother in infancy, and four sisters, Evie Lumley, Allie Gaines, Louvenia Roberds and Stattie Pendergist.
Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sue Hale of New Madrid; one sister, Betty Armstrong of Olive Branch, Miss.; two grandchildren, Jason Hale of New Madrid and Stephanie Hale of Vidalia, La.; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Clay Whitaker, Corey Hutcheson, J.D. Swain, Rick Givens, John Dodge and Chad Hutcheson.
