COOTER -- The Risco Tigers stunned the Cooter Wildcats 6-0 in Tri-County Conference play, stopping a long streak in the process.
Cooter had won their last 78 games against conference and district opponents before Risco sophomore Jordon Pavy shut down the potent Wildcat offensive attack.
Pavy threw a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out four.
"(Jordon) threw strikes but the key was our defense," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "Two errors put runners on but we worked around it. We just made the plays."
Pavy also helped out at the plate, finishing 2 for 4 while Caleb McCord was 2 for 3 as Risco improved to 9-3.
"This is the biggest win of my career," Blankenship said. "To beat a team like Cooter is huge for us. We were very fortunate to pull out a win."
Risco is back in action today when they take Delta C-7 today.
