DEXTER -- A.C. Lay, 87, died April 16, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 4, 1924, in Bell City, to the late Albert Charles and Mabel Clara Ramsey Lay, he was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter. He had worked in several factories in Dexter and was a former employee of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.
On Oct. 7, 1952, at Piggott, Ark., he married Viola Leoma Forkum who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Allen Carl Lay of Smyrna, Tenn.; two daughters, Diane Sue Robinson of Dexter and Cheryl Lynn Rice of Mount Pleasant, Miss.; one brother, Hugh Lay of Bloomfield; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Charles Lay, and five sisters, Dorothy Lampley, Eula Burkhart, Jessie McRoy, Maggie Lay and Joyce Spurgeon.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
