DORENA -- Leon Rushing, 63, died at 1:45 p.m. at his home in the Dorena community near East Prairie.
Born Jan. 25, 1949 in Tiptonville, Tenn., to the late Edgar and Annie Myrtle Maynard Rushing, he lived in Dorena most of his life where he worked for Bryant Farms. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.
On July 25, 1983, at East Prairie, he married Brenda Kay Mansfield who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons, Clinton Rushing and Gary Rushing of Bernie, Bert Rushing of Charleston and Charles Rushing of Sikeston; two daughters, Carol Ann Rushing of Poplar Bluff and Crystal Sims of East Prairie; one stepson, Tony Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Samantha Wilson of Kansas City, Mary Wilson of the state of Tennessee and Brenda Brell of Kansas City; two brothers, Zyndle Wayne Rushing of the state of Tennessee and Billy Ray Rushing of Paris, Tenn.; two sisters, Susie Chadwick of Dover, Tenn., and Janet Woods of East Prairie; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One sister, Betty Hobbs, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
