SIKESTON -- When five Sikeston High School students represent Missouri in an upcoming international career development conference, their adviser said they very well could bring back the district's first top three finishes.

"The DECA internationals is very competitive," said Sikeston DECA Adviser Blaine Brunkhorst. "In my 12 years here, I have only had two students place in the top 20, and one of those students placed in the top 10."

While Missouri DECA usually has a good showing at internationals, Sikeston has never had anyone place in the top three, Brunkhorst said.

"I really think we have a good chance of changing that this year," the adviser said.

However, the students have already helped him gain a personal best in his 12 years with the district.
