CHAFFEE -- Vyron Glynn Yount, 86, died April 23, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 27, 1925, in Chaffee, to the late Marshall Leslie and Bulah Margaret Huffman Yount, he was a pastor for 12 years at First Christian Church in Chaffee before retiring at the end of February. He pastored several General Baptist churches in his early years and served on the National Denominational Headquarters in Poplar Bluff. He earned his master's degree at Drury University in Springfield and received his doctorate degree in Oakland City, Ind.
On Sept. 3, 1943, he married Dixie Jewell Brock who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Glynnis and Keith Kunzler of Arnold and Lynnette Parker of Florissant; four grandchildren, Kristin Mugg of Denver, Jeffry Parker of Florissant, Kecia Howell of Greenway, Ark., and Shay Dahl of Dallas; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Myron Lynn Yount.
Visitation is scheduled at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the General Baptist Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Kermit Patton officiating and the Rev. Luther Rhodes assisting.
Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
