POPLAR BLUFF -- Calvin Roy Rigney, 48, died April 24, 2012, at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born July 14, 1963, in Wyatt, to Samuel Riggens of Charleston and the late Margie McCain Riggens, he was a 1982 graduate of Charleston High School and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1989. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff.
He was first married to Della Simpson. On Jan. 6, 2009, he married Gerry Lewis who survives.
In addition to his wife and father, he survived by: one son, Calvin R. Rigney Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Lamika K. Rigney of Hammond, Ind., Rochelle Rigney with the U.S. Army Reserve in Iraq and Leandra Rigney of Charleston; one stepdaughter, Twyla Roberson of Poplar Bluff; seven brothers, John Frederick Johnson of Bloomington, Ill., Troy Lee Riggins, Terry Rigney and Gary Rigney of Charleston, Tyrone Rigney of Indianapolis, Swayne Rigney of Rome, Ga., and Gyrone Rigney of Waynesville; five sisters, Brenda Hollis and Carolyn Smith of Indianapolis and Deborah Rigney, Amelia Rigney and Rita Spence of Charleston; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston with Steve Betts, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
