ST. LOUIS -- Jim "Jump Sharp" Harris Sr., 85, formerly of Haywood City, died April 25, 2012, at the St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Florissant.
Born Aug. 31, 1926, in Sunflower, Miss., to the late Johnnie and Molly White Harris, he was self-employed and since 1962 had lived in Missouri where he was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On Nov. 29, 1954, he married Rosa Lee Hill, who survives of Sikeston.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: eight sons and two daughters-in-law, Willie and Lois Hass of Greenville, Miss., Freddie Harris, Jim Harris Jr., Jerry Harris and Charles Harris of Oran, James and Evelyn Harris of Cape Girardeau, David Harris of St. Louis and Jerome Harris of Sikeston; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia and Bill Dawson of Marion, Ohio, Lou Ann and Walter Spence of Sikeston and Jessie Blackmon of St. Louis; two sisters, Sadie Mae Harris of Waterloo, Iowa, and Virgie Mae Dunn of Millington, Tenn.; and 40 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. Sunday at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Haywood City with the Rev. Alex Sims, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Haywood City Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
