NEW HAMBURG -- Regina Magdalen Dirnberger, 98, died April 27, 2012, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
She was born Nov. 9, 1913, at Benton, to the late Henry and Regina Scherer Compas. She and her husband farmed in the New Hamburg area and she was employed at Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau as a housekeeper from 1966 until 1980. She raised flowers and decorated the alters at St. Lawrence Catholic Church for 25 years.
On Nov. 15, 1932, at Benton, she married Linus Philip Dirnberger, and he preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1977.
She was also preceded in death in 1951 by a son, Clyde Dirnberger; and four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by five children, Carnetta (Donald) Vonda Haar of St. Louis, Germaine (Peck) Robert of Kelso, Mary (Charles) Hess of Scott City, Linus R. (Margie) Dirnberger of Liverpool, N.Y., and Vernon (Francine) Dirnberger of Chesterfield; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m., followed by K.C. prayers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Casteel serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
