CAPE GIRARDEAU - Bouncing back from their disheartening 15-5 loss to Dexter on Friday, the Sikeston Bulldogs defeated New Madrid County Central 6-1 on Saturday in a loser's bracket game during the SEMO conference tournament.
Trey Tigart picked up the win going six innings and striking out four. He also walked none.
"It was nice to get back on track after Friday," Sikeston head coach Alan Scheeter said. "We played pretty well."
The Bulldogs got going early in the first inning on a two-run home run off the bat of Tyler Anderson. Sikeston, who had a total of nine hits, scored three more in the second inning and one more in the fourth to go up 6-0.
NMCC, who had seven hits, was led by Jimmy Ash and Royce Clayton who each had two hits. Clayton had two doubles while JayShawn McDaniel added another double.
Sikeston will place for fifth place today at 2 p.m. against Kennett.
