EAST PRAIRIE -- Lois Powers, 89, died at 5:30 p.m. April 27, 2012, at her home.
Born Nov. 1, 1922, in Louisville, Miss., to the late James Daniel and Eddie Jerrigan Eaves, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she attended the St. James General Baptist Church.
In 1943, at East Prairie, she married Jerrold Powers who preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Forrest Eaves, Lloyd Eaves, James Eaves and Gaines Eaves; and one grandson, Stephen Wesley Powers.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Connie Powers of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Danny Powers of Bertrand; three sisters, Edna Crook of Bertrand, Odis Clayton of Jackson and Macie Cheatham of Bertrand; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Walter Bryars officiating.
Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jason Spence, Jeff Spence, Milas Mainord, Kevin Mainord, Donald Bryars and Jim Bollinger.
Honorary pallbearer was James Powers.
