The New Madrid County Sheriff's Deputies seized 15 marijuana plants that were located near the Mississippi River just outside New Madrid City limits during a narcotic investigation, according to New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens. About 2:30 p.m. Saturday, following a tip from a confidential informant, officers discovered the plant, which authorities estimated had a street value of $15,000. Deputy Anthony Roberts is pictured with marijuana, which was confiscated and will be destroyed, according to officials. Investigation into the incident is continuing. Stevens urged the public to contact the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department at 573-748-2516 if they should come across marijuana growing in the county.
