CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston golf team finished second during the SEMO Conference tournament Monday as Kirk Hoggatt led the Bulldogs to a 329 finish.

Hoggatt scored a 77, which tied him for second overall.

"It was really good to see Kirk get out and have a good day," Sikeston golf coach Andy McGill said. "He's struggled a bit during his last few tournaments and to see him shoot well was a good sign."

Evan Deere, Ben Murray and Gabe Wheeler each carded an 84 to tie for 11th place. Connor Landers finished with a 96.

Hoggatt, Deere, Murray and Wheeler all qualified for all-conference honors -- the only team at the tournament to do so.

Dexter's Cody Stevens led the Bearcats, who scored a 401, with an 84 also tying for 11th place.

Miles Urhahn had a 100, Ryan Joyner scored a 103 and Drake Mitchell shot a 110.

BASEBALL

Risco 11, Gideon 1

RISCO -- In the first game of the doubleheader, Jordon Pavy threw a no-hitter against Gideon Monday leading the Risco Tigers to an 11-1 win over the Bulldogs in five innings.

Pavy was perfect through three innings, sitting down 10 batters in a row, until an error allowed Andrew Rinehart to advance to third. He later scored on a sacrifice fly.

"He was throwing strikes," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said about Pavy's no-hitter. "I don't think but one ball got out of the infield. He's the type of guy that can do something like that for us."

Luke Bixler led the Tigers with three hits and two RBIs. Josh Earnheart had two hits.

Risco (12-6) also beat Scott County Central 13-3 in five innings during their second game.

Matt Cumins led the Tigers with three hits including a double and three RBIs. Caleb McCord had two hits and a home run while Earnheart added two more hits.

"We were eager to play, finally," Blankenship said after a long layoff between games. "We were happy to get these games in. We played good defense and hit the ball."

Chris Pavy picked up the win in four innings of work allowing three hits and striking out six.
