CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Robert Lee "Bob" Ogles, 83, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 21, 1929, in Harrisburg, Ark., to the late Leroy and Lola B. Thomas Ogles, he retired from ABF Trucking 20 years ago. A member of the Red Star Baptist Church where he was a deacon, he had been ordained as a deacon at Miner Baptist Church in Miner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved teaching his kids and grandkids to hunt and fish. His family said he was the kindest man they ever knew.
On Aug. 5, 1950, at Paragould, Ark., he married Wilma Ruth Johnston who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lee and Jane Ogles of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Pamela Deane Ogles of Columbia; four grandchildren, Dr. Mitch Ogles and his wife, Julie, of Brandon, Miss., Dr. Ricky Ogles and his wife, Amy, of Columbia, Matthew Ogles of St. Louis and Andrew Ogles of St. Charles; four great-grandchildren, Chapman Ogles and Caroline Ogles of Brandon and Caden Ogles and Avery Lynn Ogles of Columbia; and a daughter-in-law, Terry Ogles of St. Charles.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Max Ogles, and a brother, Kenneth Lyle Ogles.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Mike Parry officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
