Marie Burger
SCOTT CITY -- Marie Elizabeth Burger, 90, died May 9, 2012, at her home.
Born May 6, 1922, in rural Illmo, to the late David Frederick and Amelia Auguste Sander Held, she was a lifelong member of the Eisleben Lutheran Church of Scott City, Eisleben Lutheran Ladies Aid and served on the Christian Kitchen service committee preparing bereavement meals for families.
On June 1, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, she married Herbert Daniel Burger who preceded her in death on June 24, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Held, Alvin "Tiny" Held and Clarence "Butch" Held, and four sisters, Erma Bryant, Irene Sanders, Edna Hagan and Vera Mae Lohmann.
She is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Linda Burger of Scott City; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and James LeGrand of Benton; five grandchildren, Jarrett Burger, Andrea Hopper, Aaron Burger, Jeannette LeGrand-Florek and Landon LeGrand; and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Friday at the Eisleben Lutheran Church with Marty Hasz, vicar, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Kelso.
