RISCO -- In their final game of the regular season, Risco fell to visiting Bernie 8-6 on Thursday.
With things tied at 4-4 after four innings, the Mules scored a combined three runs in the fifth and sixth frame to pick up the win.
Down 8-5 in the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers closed the gap to two before putting runners on second and third. Unable to bring them home, however, Risco ends the regular season at 12-7.
"We hadn't played in nine days before today," Risco coach Brandon Blankenship said. "With that in mind I thought we played well. We threw our three top pitchers in Chris Pavy, Jordon Pavy and Caleb McCord in preparation for districts and had a chance to win it at the end."
Matt Cumins led the Tigers going 3 for 3 at the plate while reaching in all four plate appearances and driving in four runs. Jordon Pavy, Chris Pavy and McCord had two hits each.
For Bernie, pitcher Jesse Shelton picked up the win and went 3 for 5 at the plate with a double and three runs scored.
