CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County commissioners will review some bids and firm qualifications before making decisions on contracts related to flood recovery funding announced this week.
Gov. Jay Nixon announced Wednesday that Community Development Block Grant funding was on its way to Mississippi County, Bertrand and other local communities to assist in the repair or replacement of roads, bridges and other public infrastructure damaged or destroyed by the spring 2011 floods.
The $684,924 in CDBG funding for Mississippi County is for County Road 310 and for bridges located on County Road 310 and County Road 312 damaged by flooding as well as the removal of debris from the areas around both bridges.
During their regular meeting Thursday, commissioners opened bids for administrative services for the CDBG and qualifications from firms seeking the contract on engineering and environmental review services.
Dell Consulting of Campbell offered administrative services on the CDBG for $1,000 while the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission at Dexter bid the work at $23,832.
Presiding Commissioner Carlin Bennett said with such a huge difference in bid amounts, commissioners would need to review the proposals before making a decision.
"I'd like to table that until we understand more about it," Commissioner Robert Jackson agreed.
