EAST PRAIRIE -- Carolyn Kay Garner, 65, died at 3:04 p.m. May 11, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 1, 1946, in Wolf Island, to the late Forrest and Iva Mae Johnson Coffer, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the Tallapoosa Pentecostal Church.
On July 29, 1973, in St. Louis, she married James F. Garner who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: five sons and one daughter-in-law, Franky Garner, Todd Garner, Chris and Christy Flynt Garner, Troy Garner and Shawn Garner all of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Gail and Justin Warren of Charleston; two sisters, Emma Lou Farrow of Anniston and Jennifer Wollman of East Prairie; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: one stepson, Jimmy Garner; and two brothers, Gordon Ray Coffer and Larry Joe Coffer.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday with James White officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Franky Garner, Todd Garner, Troy Garner, Shawn Garner, Chris Ling and Bobby Schultz.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Justin James Warren, Luke Dalton Warren, Dustin Todd Garner, Austin Garner, Bradley Garner, Franky Joe Garner, Christopher Aaron Garner, Jamie Aaron Shands (Garner), William Emmerick (Garner) and Christopher DeWayne Garner.
