HOLCOMB -- Watching a five-run lead slip away during a dramatic seventh inning on Tuesday, the Risco Tigers fell 8-7 to host Holcomb in the Class 1, District 1 semifinals.

Taking a 2-1 lead into the top of the fourth inning the Tigers rallied for four runs in the frame to pull ahead 6-1. Chris Pavy kicked the rally off with a three-run home run with Caleb McCord following him with a solo shot to cap the rally.

After surrendering one hit through the first six innings on the mound, however, McCord walked the first two batters of the seventh as he surpassed 90 pitches on the game.

Going to their bullpen, Risco let up a pair of runs to close the Hornets to within 6-3 before loading the bases with two outs.

With Holcomb only one out from elimination, Michael Glover hit a double to deep right field that cleared the bases and tied the game at 6-6.

Following a scoreless eighth Chris Pavy once again put the Tigers out on top in the ninth after starting the inning wit a single. A single from McCord allowed Pavy to score from first when the outfield mishandled the ball.

Once again three outs from sealing a trip to the championship game, Risco got a leadoff strikeout before a fly out had Holcomb facing elimination.

Fighting through a 14 pitch at-bat David McDaniel then drew a walk before a double and an intentional walk loaded the bases. Drawing a 3-2 count from Holcomb's next batter to leave the Hornets down to their final strike, Risco saw a base hit up the middle score to a pair of runs to end the game.

Risco finished the year at 13-8.
