SIKESTON -- Joe Esther Williams, 101, died May 16, 2012, at the Clearview Nursing Center.
Born May 5, 1911, in Whitney, Texas, to the late Sandy Jackson and Sitha Jane Jacques Brown, she had been employed by Graber's Department Store in Sikeston. While she only completed sixth grade, she later received her GED at age 76.
She was preceded in death by three husbands: Samuel Franklin Eaton, who she married in 1928; Thomas Smotherman, who she married in 1944; and Turney Williams, who she married on Jan. 31, 1970.
She was also preceded in death by one son, six brothers, three sisters and one great-grandson.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Royal Jackson and Donna Eaton of St. Louis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Ray Williams of Sikeston and Susan Carol and Dave Ebert of Freemont, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Monday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of the Murray Lane Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Idalia-Bluff Cemetery in Stoddard County.
Pallbearers will be: Kent Eaton, Ryan Eaton, Joshua Mainzer, Joseph Adams, Cole Burnett and James Adams.
