CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County will spend nearly $280,000 on asphalt overlays this year.
County commissioners accepted during their regular meeting Thursday a bid of $279,331.51 by Delta Asphalt, the lower of the two bids received for asphalting.
The other bid, submitted by Asa Asphalt of Advance, was for $309,057.60.
Bennett said this time the contract is clearly a fixed bid with the county only obligated to pay the amount shown on the bid, "not a dime more, not a dime less."
Prices for both bids were broken out for each section of road to receive an overlay.
