CHESTERFIELD -- Clara Marie Wempe Boan, 90, died June 1, 2012, at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Chesterfield.
Born Oct. 28, 1921, in West Frankfort, Kan., daughter of the late August and Anna Lorson Wempe, in 1977 she moved to Bloomfield where she and her husband owned and operated the Bloomfield Vindicator newspaper serving as the editor for many years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter and had been a member of the Bloomfield Women's Club.
In August 1950, in Lincoln, Neb., she married James O. Boan who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Scott Boan of Bolingbrook, Ill., and John Morgan Boan of Mitchellville, Iowa; three daughters, Rebecca Ann Hoogheem of Chesterfield, Barbara Helene Metcoff of Roxbury, Conn., and Elizabeth Marie Lilly of Dexter; two sisters, Helen Wadick of Harwinton, Conn., and Bertha Wempe of Topeka, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Wempe, Bill Wempe and Pete Wempe.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The Rev. David Dohogne of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
