R-6 School Board hopes to fill superintendent vacancy by July 1

SIKESTON -- The search for a new superintendent of Sikeston R-6 schools is under way.

Southeast Missouri State University announced on May 25, R-6 Superintendent Steve Borgsmiller was hired as the new director of its Sikeston campus with his duties beginning around July 1.

R-6 Board of Education President Scott Crumpecker said board members have a plan to fill the superintendent's position before July 1, but it's not yet fully executed.

"We have a responsibility to provide information to the public, but at the same time, we don't want to divulge too much information because it might jeopardize some of our plans," Crumpecker said.
