JACKSON, Tenn. -- Vera Maxine Schuerenberg, age 81, died June 9, 2012, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Born Dec. 5, 1930, in Pinson, daughter of the late Tom and Della Golozier Jones, she moved to Jackson to make her home in 1979. She was a manager for Wal-Mart for 18 years and earlier taught Sunday school in Puxico, Mo. She was a member of Parkburg Baptist Church.

On April 22, 1951, in Holly Springs, Miss., she married Ralph Paul Schuerenberg Sr., and he preceded her in death April 19, 1973.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Schuerenberg Colbert on Oct. 3, 2011, and five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by: three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Paul and Esperanza Schuerenberg Jr. of San Diego, Darrell and Theresa Schuerenberg of Spring Creek and Thomas and Gaylene Schuerenberg of Snohomish, Wash.; one daughter, Michell Schuerenberg Moore of Ocean Side, Calif.; one son-in-law, David Colbert; two sisters, Geraldean Jones Kelly (Bobby) of Medon and Dorothy "Dot" Jones Redding (Harrell) of Jackson; and 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Maxine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to all of her family including brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo. Lucas Polk will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: her nephews, Denny Schuerenberg, Sid Schuerenberg, Dewayne Sullivan and Bill Roberts IV; and grandsons, Darrell Glen Schuerenberg Jr., Dale Colbert, Dustin Colbert and David Okin.
