EAST PRAIRIE -- Joe Greer, 73, died at 4:35 p.m. June 12, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 27, 1938, in Mississippi County, son of the late Earl and Marie Schneider Greer, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was a retired farmer and manager of the MFA Oil Plant in East Prairie. He was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.
On July 3, 1961, he married Ruth Moriarty who survives of the home.
Besides his wife, survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Marla and Scott Teter of Cumming, Ga., and Sandy Johnson of Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Bob Greer of East Prairie; and six grandchildren.
Besides his parents, one brother, Jack Greer, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in East Prairie. Larry Lane of the First Christian Church will officiate.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Full military honors will be provided by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program.
Pallbearers will be: Joe Helms, Larry Britt, Bill Munger, JC Abner, Harold Johnson, JT Johnson, Billy Bard and Kelly Barker.
