DELAWARE, Ohio -- Wayne G. Lloyd, 94, formerly of Parma, Mo., died June 13, 2012, at Willow Brook Christian Community.
Born Oct. 6, 1917, in Marengo, to the late Lewis and Lela Gartrell Lloyd, he was a 1935 graduate of Marengo High School. He opened the Lloyd Furniture Store in Ashley where he worked as a salesman. He also worked as a salesman for the H.H. Rardon Casket Company and Family Furniture in Delaware. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Ashley United Methodist Church and while living in Delaware, attended the Delaware Bible Church.
On Feb. 16, 1941, at Parma, he married Garnelle King, and she preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Lee Mathews; a son-in-law, Len Shaw; and two brothers, Kenneth Lloyd and David Lloyd.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Becky Lloyd; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Jerry Gibson, Louise and Bob Henry, Donna Shaw and Carol Holdren; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Mathews; and 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street in Delaware. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Delaware Bible Church, 45 Belle Ave. in Delaware, with Marvin Hintz, pastor, and his grandson, Christopher Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery.
