NEW MADRID -- Lois Keene Stowe died June 23, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center due to complications after surgery for a fractured hip.

She was born in rural New Madrid County on Aug. 29, 1921, to the late John Wesley and Ida B. Joiner Keene. She was a twin to Lloyd Keene.

On Sept. 26, 1945, she married J.W. "Buddy" Stowe of East Prairie, who preceded her in death in November 1986.

She was also preceded in death in January 1971 by one son, Michael Stowe; and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

She and her husband owned a farm in rural Mississippi County. She was saved and baptized at the Barnes Ridge Baptist Church and was currently a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church. She was a hand quilter and enjoyed quilting up until her death.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.

Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers were: Connie Keene, John Higgerson, Bud Henry, Bill Henry, David Keene and Kevin Keene.

Honorary pallbearer was Harold Higgerson.
