Crafting summer fun

Sikeston's Summer Reading Program kicked off Monday for children in kindergarten through second grade, drawing more than 60 youngsters to the Sikeston Public Library. After listening to stories about lightening bugs, the youngsters created their own. Alexis Dyson, right, shows her lightening bug bracelet to her friend Ashley Parkhurst. Children in third to fifth grades will meet on Tuesday afternoons while those in sixth through 12th grade will gather Wednesday afternoons.
