DES MOINES, Iowa -- It has been a rough go for Blake DeWitt of late.
Since activated from the disabled list on June 16, the former first round draft pick and Sikeston native is batting .172 with five hits in 29 at-bats. He has one RBI during the stint which was earned on June 22 against the Round Rock Express as part of an eight game series which ended Tuesday night.
DeWitt went 0 for 4 in the Cubs' 3-1 Tuesday loss.
On May 24, DeWitt suffered a sprained left wrist while diving for a ball in left field against Tacoma and was placed on the disabled list the very next day. Since returning, he has started in every game but two.
