CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Arthur J. "A.J." Miller, 84, died July 5, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 29, 1928, in New Hamburg, to the late Sereno W. and Catherine Halter Miller, he had grown up in Chaffee and lived in California, the state of Washington and Chicago before moving to Bloomfield 12 years ago. He had worked as an electrical technician with Motorola. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Italy and Korea.
In October 1970, at Chicago, he married Helen Fox who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2010.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Leon W. Miller.
Surviving are: two stepsons, Michael Lee Hasler of San Antonio, Texas, and Kenneth Lynn Hasler of Oswego, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Linda Handel of Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother, James Miller of Seattle; one sister, Betty Enderle of Kelso; and four stepgrandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, with rosary prayers at 2 p.m., at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. David Dohogne of Dexter officiating.
Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
