SIKESTON -- Sometimes peer pressure can be a good thing.

"We're getting our list ready to go in the paper for delinquent personal property taxes owed to the city," said City Collector Vicky Lewis. "It will run Aug. 15 in the Standard Democrat."

If you have an outstanding tax bill owed to the city, keeping your name out of the paper is simply a matter of paying off the bill before the list is sent off to the newspaper.

"The deadline to pay is 3:30 p.m. on July 26," Lewis said. "The delinquent amount includes the tax amount, vehicle fees, vehicle penalty and interest."
